OVERVIEW
Global software settings, such as default directories and the default print mode, can be customized by navigating to Tools > Configuration.
DOCUMENT TAB
The document tab allows you to define document functions:
- Load the printer settings saved in the document: When you open a document, the printer settings that were active when the document was last saved are restored.
- Load the printer saved in the document: When you open a document, its associated printer driver and port are also installed. For this to occur, the printer must appear in the list of printers.
- Open merge database with the document: When you open a document, the merge database associated with the document when it was last saved is also opened.
- Do not display warning messages: LABELVIEW/CODESOFT warning messages will not be displayed.
- Create a backup copy (.BAK): When you open a new document, LABELVIEW/CODESOFT creates a backup copy. Each time you save the document, those changes are also saved to the backup copy.
- Open documents as read only by default: When you open a document, LABELVIEW/CODESOFT opens it as a read-only document.
- NOTE: You can cancel read-only mode in the Open dialog box, accessible from the File > Open command.
- Auto save document: LABELVIEW/CODESOFT will automatically save your document based on the frequency you specify in the minutes box (select a number between 1 and 99). The document is saved with the .TMP extension.
- Save the last values of the data sources: Used to automatically save the last values of the data sources.
DISPLAY TAB
The Display tab allows you to select the language, unit of measure, and other display options:
- Display the object while moving: Displays the whole object while you are moving it around the Document window. When this check box is cleared, the moving object is displayed as an outline only.
- Activate animation effects: Displays the animation effects within the software.
- Language: You can select a language from the displayed list.
- NOTE: LABELVIEW/CODESOFT supports UNICODE characters, which means that it can create documents with text in different languages, regardless of the platforms used. UNICODE handles the conversion, processing and display of multilingual text, as well as the use of common technical and mathematical symbols.
- Unit of measurement: Displays measurements in either millimeters or inches.
DEFAULT FOLDERS TAB
The Default folders tab allows you to select the default folder for different types of files. Doing so means you will not have to specify the complete access path or file extension each time you use these types of files.
More information on changing the Default folders can be found here.
GRID TAB
The Grid tab allows you to define the grid scale for moving and positioning objects in the document. When you select a grid size, objects snap to the grid when moved or placed on the label.
- None: Turns off the grid, allowing you to position objects freely.
- User-defined: Provides an edit box for you to enter a grid scale of your choice.
- NOTE: When a grid is selected, a Display checkbox will appear. This allows you to toggle the grid's visibility. The grid may be modified or removed at any time without affecting the content of the label.
PRINTING TAB
The Printing tab allows you to define certain printing parameters.
- Format: Allows you to specify the format in which to display the print dialog box.
- Direct: Prints a single label directly, without displaying the print dialog box.
- Simple: Displays the print dialog box with only the basic printing options shown (this is the default print format).
- Searches in database: Displays the Go to a record in a database dialog box at print time.
- Database query result: Displays the Query result dialog box at print time.
- Infinite: This option is available if the Form has been configured to display during printing or if any Portwatch data source has been created. Print jobs are sent one-by-one in an infinite loop until the user presses Cancel.
- Update date during printing: Updates and saves the date the label was last printed.
- Hide Cancel Print dialog box: Prevents the Cancel Print dialog box from appearing. To cancel printing, you can click the printer icon on the Windows task bar.
- Enable test printing: Allows you to perform test printing from the Printing dialog box.
- Do not log test printing: Keeps test printing jobs from being saved to the printing log file.
- Allow printing in evaluation mode: Allows printing when LABELVIEW/CODESOFT is running in evaluation (demo) mode.
- In case of canceling, finish the current page: When printing is canceled, the counters will continue processing until they reach the final value set when printing was launched. If this option is not checked, the counters will retain their initial values.
- Keep the print dialog box open after print job: After your print job is complete, the print window will remain open.
- NOTE: The print window will need to be closed out manually each time you are done printing when this configuration is selected.

The Others tab provides more options.
- Settings mode: Allows you to define how and where software settings are applied.
