"You have an error with Default Folders. The <Default Folder (*extension type)> path is not valid."

This error occurs when LABELVIEW or CODESOFT cannot access one or more configured Default Folder locations.

Tip: If the issue started after a server migration, workstation replacement, or changes to mapped drives, verify that all configured Default Folder paths still exist and are accessible.

How to Resolve the Error

1. Determine which Default Folder path is referenced in the error message.
2. Verify that the folder still exists and that the current Windows user has access to it.
3. If the folder has been moved, renamed, or mapped to a different drive letter, update the Default Folder path in the software configuration.
4. If the original folder no longer exists, either recreate the folder or change the configuration to a valid location.
5. Restart the software and confirm the error no longer appears.

NOTE: This article uses LABELVIEW 2025 and CODESOFT 2025 as examples. CODESOFT uses the same default folder structure. In versions earlier than 2019, the product year was included in the folder name (for example, LABELVIEW 2018).

LABEL MATRIX uses a different interface but follows the same concept. A typical default path is:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\TKI\LABEL MATRIX

IMPORTANT: It is strongly recommended that you do not modify paths located within the ProgramData directory unless specifically instructed by TEKLYNX Support. These locations contain required application resources and configuration data that the software depends on for proper functionality.
