Web License is an option inside of the Network Administration. This option allows license communication to happen over an IP and Port as opposed to Shared Folder License which communicates through a Shared Folder on the server. If you are working in an environment where the clients cannot access the server's File Explorer but can communicate via IP this setup will work better for you. When it comes to setup there are two places we need to configure, the License Service Controller and the Network Administration.

 

Network License Controller

1. Open your Network Toolbar by going to Start > All Programs > Teklynx Network Utilities > Network Toolbar.

 

2. Click on License Service Controller.

 

3. Click Start.

 

4. Click Settings.

 

5. In Settings there are two important options: Port Number & Enable shared file license server.

 

Port Number: Determines the Port that the license will be communicating on. (Default: 55174)

Enable shared file license server: Turns Shared Folder License On/Off. You do not need to turn this off to utilize Web License, but if you want to force Web License this can be turned off.

 

 

Network Administration

1. Search Network Administration from the Start Menu.

 

2. Check Use Network License.

 

3. Check Web License.

 

4. You can now change Server Location and Server Port to match the server.

Defaults:

Server Location: localhost

Server Port: 55174
