THE APPLICATION WINDOW

  • Title Bar: Displays the product name. If you have a document open, the name of the document also appears here.
  • Menu Bar: Provides menus and commands for the document management, editing, and display functions.

THE DOCUMENT WINDOW
The Document window occupies the left pane of the application window, and provides the frame in which documents are displayed. Upon startup, LABELVIEW/CODESOFT displays an open, untitled document in the Document window. This window acts the same as any other window: it can be moved, expanded, and closed using the buttons in the upper right corner. The Document window displays the label, graduated rulers and scroll bars for positioning and viewing the label, and a rotation button for changing the orientation for its view. It also provides a non-printable area for inserting comments and objects you do not want to print.

NOTE: Right-click in the Document window to display a context menu of commonly used commands.

  • Rotation Button: Flips the displayed label format 90, 180, 270, and 360 degrees. The on-screen rotation has no effect on printing; it only affects how the label appears on your screen.
  • Graduated Rulers: Help you position fields in a label. Rulers appear in the currently selected units of measure (inches or millimeters). The height and width of the label are relative to how it appears on your screen, not to the way it will be printed.
    • NOTE: Double-click on the right half of the horizontal ruler to increase the displayed scale; double-click on the left half of the horizontal ruler to decrease the displayed scale. Double-click on the vertical ruler to display the Grid tab of the Options dialog box.
  • Data Sources Window: Displays data sources and the variables associated with them. You can right-click a data source to add a variable, and you can right-click a variable to access its properties or delete it. You can also click and drag variables into the Document window as text, a barcode, or an image.
  • The Objects Window: Displays, by type, the objects that have been created and their properties, such as position, height and width. You can right-click an object in the in the window to select it in the Document window, to lock or unlock it, or to display its properties.
