1. Go to Data Source, select Advanced, then choose Add

If the Data Source window is open on the right hand side you can also select Advanced, right click and choose Add.

                    

2. Provided a Name for the Advance Variable. 

3. Click the dropdown menu stating 'Local', select the option for From a file.

4. Click on the Browse button to select your file. 

5. Select the .txt file to use and click Open.

6. Click the Output tab. Check that the Maximum character is set properly for your use. 

This will dictate the amount of characters to be displayed on the label. To ensure that all the information from the .txt file comes through uncheck Maximum. This will allow all the characters from the .txt file to be displayed.

7. Once everything is set for the Advanced variable, click OK. 

 

8. Go to the Data Source window on the right-hand side, select the Variable, right click and choose Place

It can also be accessed by going to Data Source at the top tool bar selecting Advanced, choosing the variable name, and selecting place. The choices when placing are as Text, Barcode or Image.
