OVERVIEW
LABELVIEW and CODESOFT offer two options for label security: document passwords and a software password.
SETTING A DOCUMENT PASSWORD
You can protect a document so that a password is required to make modifications to a document, and to print that document. If password protection is enabled, a user is required to enter the password upon opening the document. If the user enters an incorrect password, the document will not be loaded. Document passwords cannot be reset if they are lost, and any labels with forgotten passwords will need to be recreated.
- Full control: If the user enters the correct password upon opening the document, the user is allowed to make design modifications to the document.
- Print only: If the user enters the correct password upon opening the document, the user is allowed access to the document for printing purposes only. No design modifications are allowed.
In this example, we've set the password for Full control to 12345, and the password for Print only to abcde. For security, asterisks (*) appear in place of the characters you type.
With password security now set on the document, when you reopen the label, you will be prompted for a password. The password you enter will determine if the document is opened with full control or print only functionality enabled.
- Per our example, inputting 12345 will open the document with all design functionality enabled.
- Inputting abcde will open the document in print only mode, with all design functionality disabled.

SETTING A SOFTWARE PASSWORD
The password security feature allows you to restrict users to opening and printing labels; no label design modifications are allowed. This means that all labels will open in print only mode by default, and the password will be required to unlock any editing and design capabilities. Software passwords can be reset if lost or forgotten.
NOTE: The password is limited to eight characters.
