Many printers have the ability to print with two types of label stock. Thermal transfer stock, which works in conjunction with a thermal transfer ribbon, and direct thermal, which uses heat sensitive label stock, and does not require the use of thermal transfer ribbon. When a printer or printer driver is configured to use direct thermal, the ribbon within the printer will not advance. Click File > Printer Setup to verify the settings of an internal TEKLYNX printer driver. Ensure that Thermal Transfer is selected or enabled.
Note: The location of this setting varies depending on the printer driver selected. When a non-native driver is selected, the settings will need to be defined through the Windows Control Panel (Devices and Printers).
