This article explains how to rename a TEKLYNX internal printer driver within LABELVIEW or CODESOFT.

Renaming a printer can make it easier to identify specific printers, printer configurations, or locations when multiple printers are installed.

Important: Only TEKLYNX internal printer drivers can be renamed using this method. Internal drivers are identified by the printer icon displayed to the left of the printer name.

Rename an Internal Printer Driver

1. Navigate to File > Select Printer.

2. Select the printer you want to rename.

Tip: Internal drivers have a printer icon displayed to the left of the printer name.
3. Click the printer name a second time using a slow double-click. This places the printer name into edit mode.

4. Enter the new printer name and press Enter to save the change.

Verify the Original Printer Model

If a printer has already been renamed, you may need to verify the actual printer manufacturer or model.

Version 2021 and Newer: Hover your mouse pointer over the renamed printer to view the original printer manufacturer and model information.

Troubleshooting

  • If changes do not appear immediately, close and reopen the Select Printer window.
  • For renamed printers in Version 2021 and newer, hover over the printer to confirm the original manufacturer and model.
