Drawing Lines
To add lines to a label:
1. On the Creation toolbar, do one of the following:
- Click the Line drawing tool.
- Or, click the Oblique line drawing tool.
2. Click inside the label where you want to begin drawing the line, and hold down the left mouse button while you drag the line to the size you want.
3. Double-click the line drawing.
The Properties dialog box appears.
4. On the Shape settings tab, select a color and width for the line.
5. If desired, select a dash style for the line.
6. Click the General tab.
7. Enter values for the x/y coordinates of the line, and to specify the size of the line.
8. If desired, rotate the line on the label by selecting one of the Rotation options.
9. Click the Send as graphic check box to specify that this line object be sent to the printer as a graphic.
10. Click OK.
- Once you place an object on a label, you can click and drag to move it.
- To change the size of an object, click on one of its handles and drag it.
Drawing squares, rectangles, circles and ellipses
To add squares, rectangles, circles and ellipses to a label:
1. On the Creation toolbar, do one of the following:
- Click the Rectangle drawing tool
- Or, click the Circle or ellipse drawing tool
- Or, click the Rounded rectangle drawing tool
2. Click inside the label and hold down the left mouse button while you drag the shape to the size that you want.
- To draw a square or circle, hold down the SHIFT key while you drag the cursor.
- To draw a rectangle or ellipse centered on a starting point, hold down the CTRL key while you drag the cursor.
- To draw a square or circle centered on a starting point, hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys while you drag the cursor.
3. Double-click the shape
The shape's Properties dialog box appears.
The Shape settings tab allows you to define the properties of the shape, including background (fill color) and border options.
- Background: Click the Background check box if you want to apply a colored background (fill color) or pattern to the shape using the Color settings.
- Color defines the fill color for the shape. You can also specify a pattern for the background by clicking the Pattern button.
- Pattern button (available from within the Color drop down selection box) and clicking on the desired pattern.
- NOTE: You can set the resolution for the selected pattern and view the result using the Resolution button.
- Internal margin is used to define a margin between shape's border line and the shape itself (the area filled with the selected background color).
- Border: Click the Border check box to place a border line around the shape. Note that if an internal margin surrounds the shape, the border line will appear outside the margin.
- Color is used to define the color of the border.Dash style defines the dash style, if any, to use for the border.
- Dash cap defines the appearance of the dashes when a dash style is used.
- Width (mm) defines the width of the border line, whether it is continuous or dashed.
- Outline displays only the outline of the defined border.
4. Click the General tab.
The General tab allows you to define basic properties for a shape.
- Name - Allows you to assign a unique name to the shape.
- Position - Enter values for the X/Y coordinates of the shape on the label, and specify the size of the shape using the Width and Height settings.
- Rotation - The orientation of the shape on the label.
- Anchor point - Determines the base point from which the coordinates are calculated.
- Printable - A printable shape (box checked) indicates the shape should print. A non-printable shape (box not checked) indicates the shape should not print (shape on label is dimmed).
- Send as graphic - Click the Send as graphic check box to specify that this shape be sent to the printer as a graphic.
- Lock - A locked shape (box checked) prevents the shape from being modified, moved, re-sized or deleted. While locked, its properties cannot be changed. An unlocked shape (box not checked) allows the shape to be modified, moved, re-sized or deleted.
- Allow superimposing - Clear this check box if you want to prevent other objects from overlapping the shape.
5. Click OK.
- Once you place an object on a label, you can click and drag to move it.
- To change the size of an object, click on one of its handles and drag it.
- To change the color of an object, open the properties window and select the color you want under the color drop down box.
Drawing polygons
To add a predefined shape, form or symbol to a label:
1. On the Creation toolbar, click the Polygon drawing tool.
2. Click inside the label and hold down the left mouse button while you draw a line.
3. Release the left mouse button and then click where you want the next leg of the polygon to appear.
4. Continue drawing the polygon by clicking and moving the mouse.
5. To close the polygon, double-click on the starting point; otherwise, double-click anywhere to finish the polygon.
6. Double-click the shape

8. Click OK.

Adding a predefined shape or object
To add a predefined shape, form or symbol to a label:
1. On the Creation toolbar, click the Shapes objects tool.
2. Point to the appropriate category in the sub-menu, and then click the desired shape.
The shape appears on the label.
3. Double-click the shape.
4. In the General and Shape settings tabs, you have the same properties we covered in the Procedure: Drawing squares, rectangles, circles and ellipses section
5. Click OK.
