Size mode is what causes all the Xs to show on the label. Size mode will display the maximum size of the fields. In order for the data to display this needs to be changed to Content.
1. With the label open and Size mode selected the label may look similar to below for fields that are pulling data.
2. In the Toolbar, find the View mode selector. Change the drop down to Content.
3. The fields should now display the data instead of the Xs.
