Product: All TEKLYNX Software
Version: All Versions
A TEKLYNX network license is a floating license that is hosted on a centralized license server. The license can be installed on an unlimited number of computers, but only the number of purchased concurrent users can run the software at the same time.
How a Network License Works
For example, with a 5-user network license, the software may be installed on any number of computers. However, only five computers can actively use the license simultaneously. When one user closes the software, the license becomes available for another user.
All client computers that use the network license must be able to communicate with the license server over the network.
Remote Desktop and Virtual Machine Support
A network license is required when using TEKLYNX software through Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or on terminal servers. This allows multiple users to remotely access a computer running a TEKLYNX product while obtaining a license from the network license server.
If the network license is hosted on a Virtual Machine (VM), the client computers do not need to be virtual machines. Client devices may be either physical computers or virtual machines, provided they can communicate with the license server.
NOTE: TEKLYNX software versions 2019 and older were available in both standard and VM license configurations. If the license server is hosted on a virtual machine, a VM license is required. Beginning with TEKLYNX 2021, all network licenses are VM-enabled by default.
