ITF-14 Barcode (Shipping Container Code)
The ITF-14 barcode, also known as the Shipping Container Code, is an Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode symbology used to identify shipping containers and packaged products. An ITF-14 barcode consists of 14 numeric digits.
ITF-14 Number Structure
- Digit 1 – Packing indicator.
- Digits 2–3 – UPC numbering system or EAN prefix.
- Digits 4–8 – Manufacturer identification number.
- Digits 9–13 – Item identification number.
- Digit 14 – Mod10 checksum digit (automatically generated by the software).
Bearer Bar Options
ITF-14 barcodes support bearer bars, which help reduce the possibility of short scans during barcode reading.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| None | Prints only the barcode without bearer bars or a surrounding box. |
| Bearer Bars | Prints horizontal bearer bars above and below the barcode. |
| Bearer Box | Prints horizontal and vertical bearer bars around the entire barcode. |
Note: The software automatically calculates the required Mod10 checksum digit (Digit 14). You only need to provide the first 13 numeric digits when creating an ITF-14 barcode.
