Another way we refer to the key entry lookup is as a table lookup. Here are the steps for creating, what we will refer to, as the table lookup variable.

1. Open a document in LABEL MATRIX.

2. Right click on an open space on the label and select properties.

3. Click on the Database tab.

4. Click the Add button on the bottom.

5. Select the Normal Setup radial button and click Next.

6. Locate the database either by entering the file path in or clicking on File and browsing for it specifically. Once the file has been selected click Open.

7. Once selected the file path will populate as shown below. Click Next.

8. A list of the fields on the database will be shown, verify the information is correct. Click Next.

9. Select the Keyed Access Primary Key radial button. Click Next.

10. Select how you want to search the database. The most common is a Keyboard. Click Next.

11. Enter the Prompt for the keyboard field. Click Next.

12. Enter a Description for the database if you want. Click Finish. On the Database tab the database connection will now appear. Click OK.

Now that the Lookup is set up, the database field needs to be placed on the label.

1. Select Insert and choose Image Wizard from the drop-down.

2. Select how the information is going to display on the label. For this example click Text. Click Next.

3. The next page that displays nothing needs to be changed, click Next. Choose the Font and Dimensions. Click Next.

4. Modify if you want to change anything for the foreground and background color. By default the foreground is black and the background is white. Click Next.

5. Select Database as the Data Origin. Click Next.

6. Select the Database where the information is coming from. Once the database is correct select the Field to place on the label. Click Next.

7. Name the "image", in this case text, that is being placed on the label. A default Text "1" will be given. It may help to name the fields to keep track of them. Add any description if desired. Click Next.

8. Modify the Rotation or Justification. Click Next.

9. Select how the image is going to get on the label. It is most common to place it by mouse. Click Finish. Now drag the mouse to anywhere you want the field to be on the label and Click the mouse or hit Enter.

10. Once the label has been setup and is ready to print click on the Print Icon or go to the File drop-down and select Print.

11. Select the Print Range and verify the Printer as well as any other settings on the print page. Click OK.

12. The prompt that was set up during the database connection should now appear. Type in the desired result and hit Enter or Seek. This should highlight the matching record. NOTE: The entry field can be made Case Sensitive and it can be set to Print All Matching Records as well. By default these are not selected.)

13.Click Print and the labels that match the record selected should print out.
