If you open a label that has been selected to Read-Only status, you will see a window appear much like the one below.
This means that you will be unable to alter and save your label template. If you do not receive the warning or it passes too quickly, you may also confirm that this may be selected as Read-Only due to the Save option being greyed out, as shown below.
1. The first step is to find the Food label template. In the example shown below, the label template is found within the Default Folder path.
C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Teklynx\*your software version*\Samples\Labels\food.lab
C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Teklynx\*your software version*\Samples\Labels\food.lab
2. After finding the label, right-click the file and proceed to its Properties as shown below.
3. Once inside of the Properties options, we can see that the file has been selected as Read-Only.
4. Deselect the Read-Only checkbox and press OK. Now when we open the label template once again, you should not receive that same window message. In addition, you will now see that the Save button has been re-enabled.
5. You will now be able to alter and save your labels properly. Alternatively, if your labels are still opening in Read-Only mode, please follow the following instructions. Within your program, follow the path within the Menu Bar to Tools and select Configuration and follow the example given below.
6. Locate the Document tab, you will see the option to select/deselect the setting for your label templates to be opened in Read-Only mode.
