*For this example CODESOFT 2018 will be used to demonstrate*
1. Begin by launching your Network Toolbar with the User Manager installed. Image of the Network Toolbar is located below;
2. Depicted by the stick figure character surrounded by a red circle is the User Manager. This will allow end users to actively allow/deny workstations using the CODESOFT 2018 product to perform certain functions within the software. This is done through the already existing Active Directory within the local workstation or within the network. Below is a depiction of the User Manager window.
3. As we can see from the current example below, whichever Active Directory profile is logged into the program and begins this security setup process will be named the "Administrator" of the Profile list. This process would generally be conducted by the IT Admin or whomever is in charge of this task.
4. From here, we may add/remove Profiles to the listing of our choosing. We may even create additional Profile categories, as shown below by the addition of "Printers" and "Designers" profiles added to the list.
5. Once the profile has been created, you can now add Users to your desired Profile categories. From the example below and above, the location of new User creation tool is located within the same dropdown menu as the "New Profile" creation tool.
6. It is recommended to setup your permissions/policies within the Profile before adding Users. The reason being is you cannot freely change the settings without having to highlight a current Profile and selecting the option to "Modify". Once a User has been added to a Profile category, the permissions options will appear in grey and cannot be directly accessed by clicking in the permissions window. Let us take a look at what the permissions window looks like before moving on.
7. If we take a look at the permissions windows, the Administrator will already have these permissions greyed out as they will always have full control of the program to avoid being "locked out" of certain administrative functions.
8. Once we have modified the permissions for a Profile category, we can start adding User(s) categories to one of our Profile categories, such as "Printers" depicted in the example below.
9. When adding a new User to the Profile category, it will open the Windows platform User Account Manager window. These Users can be added from a Local or Network location.
10. Once added to this list, we can see the result when the end user logs into their profile within Windows and launches the software.
NOTE: This displays the "PRINT" User permissions.
11. As we can see from the above depiction, the User "PRINT" only has the capabilities of opening an existing label. Normally, there will be a few more options for the end user using the full program without these restrictions.
NOTE: There are some functions that are not available regardless, if you do not have a label template currently open. This applies to both new and already created templates.
If we were to open a template, as shown in the example below, we can see that these permissions still carry over to the label creation functions when a label template is currently open.
