If you are receiving a "Printer not ready" or "Printer not connected properly" message when printing, please check the following:

  • The most common reason for these messages is that the cable is not attached to the correct printer port on the back of the computer.

  • Another possibility is that some serial printers require a null modem attached to the cable. To find out if your printer requires a null modem, refer to your printer manual.

  • A third possibility may be that Windows is detecting another device (such as a mouse or a modem) connected to the port. You may need to free up that port in order for Windows to recognize your printer.
