An NT Service error indicates that the Windows account configured to run the SLicense service (versions prior to 2021) or the TkxWebLicenseServer service (version 2021 and newer) does not have sufficient permissions to start or run the service.

Note: Beginning with version 2021, the SLicense service was renamed to TkxWebLicenseServer. Aside from the service name, the troubleshooting steps are the same for all supported versions.

Resolve the NT Service Error

Follow these steps to update the Windows service account with an account that has sufficient privileges.

1. Open the Windows Services console.
2. Locate the appropriate licensing service:
  • Versions 2021 and newer: TkxWebLicenseServer
  • Versions prior to 2021: SLicense

3. Right-click the licensing service and select Properties.
4. Select the Log On tab.

5. Configure the service to use a Windows user account that has permission to run Windows services on the server. Enter the account credentials, apply the changes, and restart the service if necessary.

Expected Result: After updating the service to use an account with the appropriate permissions, the licensing service should start successfully and the NT Service error should no longer occur.
