The Voice Pick code, which is part of the Product Traceability Initiative (PTI), is comprised of three key components: the Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN), the Lot/Batch Number, and the Pack/Harvest Date. Click your label design product to download a PTI sample label: LABELVIEW | CODESOFT
1. If you haven't already done so, go to View and enable the Data Sources panel.
2. Right-click on Formula, and select Add.
3. From the Formula tab, change the formula name to VoiceCode. Select the Conversion category from the list of predefined formulas, and then select VoiceCode. Click Insert.
4. The VoiceCode formula will appear in the text box. This formula needs three pieces of information: GTIN, LotNumber, and Date.
5. Input the name of the data source that contains the GTIN. Once you've begun typing, the software will suggest data sources with matching characters. Click directly on the suggestion in the pop-up to add it to the formula.
6. Repeat this step for LotNumber and Date. The preview should show your four-digit Voice Code. Click OK.
7. From the Data Sources panel, right-click on Formula and select Add. From the Formula tab, change the formula name to VoicePick-Small
8. Select the Text category from the list of predefined formulas, and then select Left. Click Insert.
9. The Left formula will appear in the text box. This formula needs two pieces of information: String and Number.
10. Input the VoiceCode formula you created into string, and enter 2 for the number. The formula will return the 2 leftmost digits of the Voice Code. Click OK.
11. From the Data Sources panel, right-click on Formula and select Add. From the Formula tab, change the formula name to VoicePick-Large.
12. Select the Text category from the list of predefined formulas, and then select Right. Click Insert.
13. The Right formula will appear in the text box. Like the Left formula, it requires two pieces of information: String and Number.
14. Input the VoiceCode formula you created into string, and enter 2 for the number. The formula will return the 2 rightmost digits of the Voice Code. Click OK.
15. From the data sources window, right-click VoicePick-Small and select Place.
16. Click anywhere on the label, and select Text from the drop-down menu. The results of VoicePick-Small will appear on your label.
17. Repeat steps 15 and 16 for VoicePick-Large. Make any adjustments to font or size by right-clicking on the Text object and selecting Properties.
18. To create the black box background for the Voice Pick code, navigate to Objects > Shape > Rectangle. Alternatively, select the Rectangle from the Creation Menu on the left side of the screen.
19. Click anywhere on the label to begin drawing the object, and hold down the left mouse button to drag the shape to the desired size.
20. Right-click the Rectangle on the label and select Properties. From the Shape settings tab, check Background and set the Color to black. Click OK.
21. Right-click the Rectangle on your label one more time and select Send to back.
22. Navigate to File > Label Properties.
23. From the Extended tab, check Windows graphical emulation.
NOTE: Without this option, you will be unable to print white text on a black background. If you do not see this option, please add a TEKLYNX printer driver and enable reverse overlay before proceeding.
24. A pop-up with a brief explanation of Windows Printing Mode will appear. Click OK to exit this window, and then click OK again.
25. Right-click the VoicePick-Small text object and select Properties.
26. Change the Color of the Foreground to white, and the color of the Background to black. Click OK.
27. Repeat steps 22 and 23 with VoicePick-Large.
28. Hold the Shift key and click on VoicePick-Small and VoicePick-Large to select both objects. Click and drag them onto the black background and adjust the placement if necessary.
TEKLYNX has created a video called Create a Voice Pick Code with CODESOFT. Though the video specifically refers to CODESOFT, the process is exactly the same in LABELVIEW.
