Use this procedure to create a new Microsoft SQL Server database connection and query using the Query Wizard. Once the connection and query have been created, you can use database fields on your label design.
Create a Microsoft SQL Server Database Connection
1. Navigate to Data Sources > Database > Create/Edit Query to open the Query Definition window.
2. Click New, then select Wizard.
3. Select SQL Server as the database type and enter a name for the new Connection.
4. Enter the Server Name, choose the appropriate Authentication Type, then click Test Connection. After the connection test is successful, click Finish.
5. In the Query Definition window, select the newly created Connection from the Select a Data Source drop-down list.
6. From the Select the Table drop-down list, choose the database table that contains the data you want to use on your label.
7. Select the database columns you want to include from the Select Fields list, then click OK. You may choose to save the query for future use, but saving it is optional.
Add Database Fields to the Label
After creating the database connection and query, you can add the selected database fields to your label design.
8. If the Data Sources window is not already displayed, navigate to View > Data Sources.
9. Click and hold the desired Field in the Data Sources window, then drag and drop it onto the label.
10. When prompted, choose how the database field should be added to the label by selecting Text, Barcode, or Image.
